The Centre for Future Clean Mobility partners with businesses to develop low-emissions, high-efficiency integrated power systems for applications in the aerospace, automotive, marine, and rail sectors.

Dr Gianmario Rinaldi is joining CFCM as a Lecturer in Clean Powertrains with extensive experience in control and optimisation. 

Dr Gianmario Rinaldi is joining CFCM as a Lecturer in Clean Powertrains with extensive experience in control and optimisation. 

He received the BSc degree in Energy Engineering, the MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, and the PhD degree in Control Systems Engineering from the University of Pavia, Italy, in 2014, 2016, and 2019, respectively.  

Since 2019, Gianmario has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the University of Exeter and was appointed as Lecturer in Clean Powertrains within CFCM in 2021.  

His current research interests include; 

  • control and estimation 
  • sliding mode observers
  • optimisation. 

Gianmario’s previous research applications include energy management, autonomous vehicles, and clean powertrains. He is the author of 18 peer-reviewed papers in these areas, including 8 journal publications and a book chapter.
