CFCM Moves to the Science Park!

Driving the next generation towards zero carbon

The Centre for Future Clean Mobility partners with businesses to develop low-emissions, high-efficiency integrated power systems for applications in the aerospace, automotive, marine, and rail sectors.

We are excited to announce that the Centre has a new home at the Exeter Science Park thanks to funding from the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership

We are excited to announce that the Centre has a new home at the Exeter Science Park thanks to funding from the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership.

Why did we make this move? Space. When CFCM stood up in July 2020 we had offices and were doing practical work at partner business’s premises. A year later we need space for 20 staff plus visiting staff from businesses, and we need to house our new clean powertrain assembly and test facility.

The new office and powertrain facility are bigger and will allow us to assemble and test powertrains with outputs up to 0.75 MW. The test facility will open in early 2022, and will have available many electric motors, battery packs, hydrogen fuel cells, and importantly a dynamometer to test them on. By end of 2022 we expect to be at 30 staff and are developing plans for Phase II of CFCM in a new building.

Location. Our new offices and test facility is easy to get to, sitting next to the M5 and A30, two minutes from Exeter International Airport, and a short journey from central Exeter.

It has been an exciting few months, and we are ready to start this new chapter in our history. As working life gets back to normal (correct at the time of writing), we plan to start hosting horizon scanning, technical review and business development events as we have in the past – watch this space for further information!
